Once again, thanks to everyone for coming out to the seminars this week. You’ll get the usual DNG conversion dialog where you choose your options and you’re good to go. Then go to the Library menu at the top and choose Convert Photos to DNG. Just select your photos in the Library module.
But what if you’re just adding photos that already exist on your computer and you choose the Add option? No DNG right? No sweat! See, the Import dialog has a Copy as DNG option in it. One of those questions is about converting to DNG and whether or not it’s possible to convert to it after you do your Lightroom import. I’ve uploaded an example exposure bracketed set of raw images, as well as a 32 bit floating point dng file from hdrmerge, to use as reference images. This would open up some elegant workflows for wide gamut hdri merging on linux. It would be awesome to be able to convert the hdr dng file to wide gamut aces colorspace and linear to light exr intensity values. Darktable also supports floating point hdr dngs in the 2.4.0 release, but getting aces colorspace data out of it is not possible, or at least not easy using only this software.RawTherapee also received support for floating point DNG files in a patch, discussed here, but getting linear image data out of it this program is difficult if it’s even possible.Unfortunately it is an exr in native, sRGB or XYZ colorspace, and the demoisaicing options leaves something to be desired. There is a fork of hdrmerge which outputs an exr.Hdrmerge offers the ability to merge a bracketed set of images into a floating point DNG file, which has significantly reduced noise, good detail, and good preservation of the linear light intensities from the scene. I already tried to unbind/uninstall/reinstall aces_container without any luck. The compile went well but when I am trying to convert a CR2 rawtoaces raises an assertionerror.
